In the End is Tall Shadows’ first solo effort. It’s a departure from a rock band arrangement, moving into the territories of electronic, ambient, and neo-classical. It’s a slow drift through nightmarescapes of great beasts in murky twilight. The album is at its base electronic, with lush acoustic strings braided through synth organs; sparse vocals lilt below the surface overhead. In the End is a meditation on isolation, timeless emptiness, latent mysticism, and the desire to disappear.
