Aside from the ‘Harp’ passages, every sound is taken from a recording of my mother, Nadine McInnis, reading her poem “Hand to Hand” After coming up with the main melody of the piece I had an extremely vivid nightmare. In this dream, I was on a beach in Indonesia. The ocean had become acidic and all aquatic life had died. This had allowed for mythical sea serpents to return for another era of Earth's existence. The beach was littered with partially fossilized snake carcasses. I decided to go for a swim in the eerie transparent water. I looked down and drifted while staring down at the long powerful body of a 100 foot serpent, now an underwater colossus.
